Avincis has launched helicopter emergency services (HEMS) operations in Greece, after partnering with local operator AK Aviation.
The operator is delivering HEMS missions on behalf of the Greek Ministry of Health (EKAV), with financial and institutional support from the National Bank of Greece.
Two AW139 helicopters were deployed to Greece and began operations on July 26th. The aircraft, based in Rhodes, are providing coverage across both the mainland and surrounding islands.
John Boag, group CEO, Avincis described the launch as a landmark moment for the company. “We are honoured to work with AK Aviation to support EKAV and the people of Greece with our proven expertise in emergency aerial services,” said Boag. “Our goal is to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient HEMS that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
AK Aviation welcomed the partnership to strengthen Greece’s emergency response infrastructure. “This partnership brings together local knowledge and international best practice to deliver world-class HEMS capabilities,” said a spokesman for the organisation. , Based in Marousi, Attica, AK Aviation Support Services, founded in 2010 provides aerial firefighting, search and rescue (SAR) and aviation support services including risk management, and training, ensuring safety, efficiency, and mission success.
Avincis said its entry into the Greek market highlighted its ability to rapidly mobilise fleet and personnel across borders. The company now operates in nine countries worldwide. It operates more than 205 aircraft and operations spanning Europe, Africa, and South America.
Meanwhile, last month Avincis also marked a decade of delivering critical offshore helicopter services in Mozambique. The company operates a fleet of three Leonardo AW139 helicopters delivering offshore transport services serving major energy projects, such as Eni’s Coral South FLNG in Area 4.
